Posted on 08/02/2021
On Friday, July 30, 2021, Seaford Police Department civilian staff and sworn officers, the Mayor, City Manager and Council members joined together to honor Staff Sergeant Jason Sterner to celebrate his retirement with 23 years of service to our community. The ceremony at the Police Department marked the end of a successful law enforcement career that began in 1998.
Staff Sergeant Sterner has served in nearly every capacity within the police department during his career, working as a patrol officer, detective, and patrol shift supervisor before moving into administration. He became our departmental Staff Sergeant in 2019 and served as the Accreditation Officer for the department as we worked to achieve State Accreditation through the Delaware Police Accreditation Commission. State Accreditation would not have been achieved without his hard work and dedication to this effort.
At Friday’s ceremony, Staff Sergeant Sterner completed his last official radio call. The department then honored Staff Sergeant Sterner and his family with a congratulatory pass-through. Staff Sergeant Jason Sterner has served the community of Seaford with professionalism, dignity, and respect for the last 23 years. The women and men of the Seaford Police Department sincerely thank him for his service and wish him the best in his retirement and future endeavors.
